Due to public distancing restrictions, workshops for 2020 are not going ahead. We, the Murrindindi Beanie & Fibre Festival, want to promote the artistry of our amazing guest artist Liz & thank her for being part of the Murrindindi Beanie Fest family and we look forward to the planning of wonderful workshops in 2021. The MBFFV is very excited that Liz Langford if offering classes in the lead up to our funky fibre festival. Her unique style is a delight and her sessions always sell out quickly. Read on to secure your place in this truly unique fibre festival.

Liz Langford has been designing knitwear for many years and has been a life long knitter.  She likes to use colour and different techniques to create unique garments. A recent innovation has been exploring the use and reuse of antique laces as an embellishment for knitwear.  She has been a teacher in one form or another most of her working life. She is an accomplished designer who is willing to explore, colour, design, and function. A passion for knitting has led to creating unique ever changing designs. All are created from beautiful natural yarns, including wool, silk and cottons. Liz has been judging in the Wool-craft Section of the Australian Sheep and Wool Show for a number of years and seeks to inspire others to create beautiful statement pieces and to look at knitting from a new view point. http/www.ravelry.com/designers/liz-langford-knits

‘FLORA’ brooch WORKSHOP by Liz Langford Knits

Date: Thursday July 23rd 10am -12pm  Cost: $15 Min class of 10, maximum 20.

In this class participants will be guided to create a gorgeous fibre brooch complete with flower and leaves. All materials are supplied and basic knitting skills required.  Laced and Lovely workshop by Liz Langford Knits

Date: Thursday July 23rd 1-4 pm.  Cost: $45 minimum class of 10, maximum 15.

This class will be lead participants through the process of adding lace to a knitted piece by creating a small neck piece. A range of stitches will also be part of this – easy lace, and slip stitches, while many ideas of how to incorporate lace into knitting will be shared. Liz can supply the lace required at $3 a piece, but if you wish to bring your own Liz can adapt the concept.

Participant materials to bring:

  • 4.50 needles – 60cm circulars are easiest, but straight will do. 
  • 4mm crochet hook (for edging). 
  • Approximately 100 gms of 4 or 8 ply to use as a main colour 4 contrast colours of approximately 20 gms each .
  • 4 buttons.

   “Stained Glass Scarf” WORKSHOP LIZ LANGFORD KNITS

 Date: Friday July 24rd 10am -4pm  Cost: $60 Minimum class of 10, maximum 15.

With just basic knitting skills required, jump in early as this class is a great way to be a part of our funky fibre festival. Participants will learn to create a winter warming scarf. Featuring slip stitches, you will learn a myriad of ideas for working with color and incorporating it into your design, this will no doubt be a popular class.

Participant materials to Bring:

  • 4.50 mm needles (both straight and circular 60mm ) 
  • 80 grams of main colour in 8 ply . Small quantities ( approx. 20gms of 20 contrast colours), There will be some yarns for the class to use as well.
